TAFE South Australia is a part of the Australian National network of technical institutions that offer a large range of courses from Certificate to Degree level. All courses are developed and reviewed in consultation with universities and industry. All courses are fully accredited by the Australian National Training Authority and have clearly defined pathways to further study at University. TAFE South Australia also operates the only Government owned ELICOS (English language) Centre in South Australia.

Studying English
By studying English at TAFE South Australia students are able to reach the level of English required to enter award or university programs or improve their opportunities to gain employment.
The range of courses include:
• General English, Elementary to Advanced Reading and writing; speaking and listening; Australian society and culture; study skills; conversation and pronunciation. This course may include excursions and computer based classes.
• English for Academic Purposes
Essay and report writing; oral presentations; research skills; intensive listening practice; using the internet for study; advanced grammar; advanced reading and writing for academic purposes; advanced discussion skills. Successful completion of both stages provides direct entry to TAFE South Australia courses.
• English for Tourists
Conversational English, Australian idioms, basic grammar, reading, writing, listening. Australian culture. This course includes excursions.
• IELTS Preparation
IELTS Preparation is offered as a part-time course. The course offers intensive preparation for the official IELTS test (GTM and Academic), including oral skills, listening skills and practice; reading and writing preparation.

•TESOL Subjects include grammar, ESL teaching theory and intense focus on practical teaching methodologies. Successful students completing the full Certificate IV in TESOL will be qualified to teach English as a Foreign Language in selected language schools offshore.
Homestay Accommodation or Shared Accommodation
Homestay accommodation provides students with excellent opportunities to learn about Australia and Australian culture and customs. This accommodation includes:
• single room with bed, desk and wardrobe
• up to 3 meals per day depending on the individual homestay family
• the opportunity to live and learn in an Australian family environment
