Barrier Reef Institute of TAFE

The Barrier Reef Institute of TAFE is one of Queensland's leading education and training providers and is located in the beautiful region of tropical North Queensland. The Government - owned Barrier Reef TAFE provides training to over 13,000 local, interstate and international students each year, and can offer you more than 130 programs across our eight campuses: our graduates look forward to working in a diverse range of trades and professions. Townsville has been awarded the prestigious UN "Safe City" Award.

Barrier Reef TAFE International students live in a unique and stunning location encompassing the thriving and cosmopolitan city of Townsville and down to the beautiful Whitsunday Islands.

Hundreds of thousands of international visitors visit the region each year to experience the Great Barrier Reef, World Heritage Rainforests, and the Great Australian outback.

Most of our International students study at the Townsville City campus located in the heart of North Queensland's capital. It is set in prize winning tropical palm and lawn gardens and is ideally positioned close to the city centre and has a long history as a place of education and training in Townsville. Popular programs include Nursing, Business, IT, Aged Care and Children's Services, as well as a wide range of Hospitality and Trade programs.

Partnerships with Universities

Students who have completed a Diploma course may receive up to 12 months credit towards a Bachelor program at University. Barrier Reef TAFE has a very close working relationship with James Cook University in Townsville and many of our students continue their studies there. Barrier Reef Tafe also has a very close working relationship with JCU-English Language Centre located on our City Campus and we can assist students with a package encompassing English Language, Tafe studies and James Cook University degree programs.
