Study Fisheries and Marine Resources at AMC
Interested in our marine environment?
People love to live near the sea. In fact, the UN estimates that 90% of the world's population will live near the coast within the next 20 years. While we all appreciate the natural and cultural values of this unique environment there is always the risk of over-exploitation and degradation - either intentionally or accidentally. We need to achieve a balance between the conservation of environmental and cultural values and use of the environment in a sustainable way.
Study Seafaring at AMC
Interested in commercial boating or do you see yourself at sea?
Seagoing careers take place on large ocean going vessels and on smaller coastal vessels. Ocean going careers exist mainly on large cargo ships that carry products like grains, iron ore, oil, cars and tourists. Coastal vessel careers are on smaller trading, research, fishing, passenger, supply and support vessels (like tugs and rig tenders).
Seagoing careers are determined by licences issued by the state and federal government (called Certificates of Competence). In order to obtain these licences seafarers need to have specific sea experience and complete studies and examinations with an approved maritime training institution.
Study Maritime Business and Logistics at AMC
Interested in a job with excellent salaries and opportunities for travel?
The thriving freight transport, distribution and logistics sector provides a diverse range of careers and employment opportunities. Logistics is part of the supply chain process that manages the flow of goods through the complexities of shipping, ports, rail, air and road networks. The industry also needs suitably qualified technology managers. Excellent career opportunities exist in the industry both in Australia and overseas.
Study Engineering at AMC
Are you good at maths and physics?
Do you like solving problems?
Engineers make an enormous difference to our lives. They have the skills to recognise where there is a problem and why, then come up with a range of possible solutions, enhancing many aspects of our lives.
Engineering students at AMC have access to an extensive range of experimental facilities including a cavitation tunnel, towing tank and model test basin. AMC's Department of Maritime Engineering offers four-year bachelor degrees in engineering in the following areas:
