Study in a National Park
One of the most beautiful regions of Australia, the Blue Mountains is
the ideal location for students to equip themselves for the challenges
of working in the hospitality and tourism industry, away from the
distractions of a major city, yet accessible to its facilities. Only
one and half-hour’s drive from Sydney, the Blue Mountains encompasses
one of the most spectacular wilderness parks in Australia. From the
stunning Three Sisters rock formation, to Wentworth Falls and the
Jamison Valley, the scenic, peaceful atmosphere in the Blue Mountains
allows students to concentrate on their studies whilst benefiting from
living within a tourism based community. This also provides the School
with wonderful field study opportunities in a natural outdoor classroom.
Located
in Leura, one of the Blue Mountains’ most popular towns for visitors,
students are a close walk away from stylish cafes, fine dining
restaurants, coffee shops, bookshops and all the amenities they require.
Live in a Hotel!
Living on campus, running the school like a hotel - what a way to learn
the business of hospitality and tourism management!
The
hotel itself becomes part of the classroom and the classroom is part of
the hotel. Students are guests, the staff and the managers of the hotel
- No1 Chambers, learning and developing their skills in this fully
residential campus.
The Campus
A fully residential campus, BMHS accommodates over 240 students, from
approximately 30 different nationalities, in the on-campus hotel.
|
Facilities include a fine-dining restaurant, bistro and café,
volleyball, tennis and basketball courts, in-ground swimming pool and
soccer field, student recreation areas and twin share hotel rooms, all
with ensuites, private phones and 24 hour internet access. The entire
campus is wireless networked for students to use laptops in class and
in their rooms.
An International Reputation
The school enjoys an excellent reputation in the industry as a leader
in quality training with an industry-validated curriculum designed to
prepare students for the many new career opportunities emerging within
the fastest growing industry in the world.
Students
enrolling in the Blue Mountains Hotel School take on a triple challenge
- they play the roles of guest and employee whilst undergoing a
comprehensive curriculum of academic studies. From day one, students
live and study in a hotel atmosphere. The campus itself is run by
students and for the students as a fully operational hotel. During the
residential semesters, students take on a number of management
responsibilities.
From
guest relations, front office management, food and beverage to
housekeeping and property management, students gain experience in all
aspects of hotel management. In addition to the practical experience
and academic emphasis, the lecturers stress the importance of good work
habits, such as attitude, punctuality, attendance and presentation, to
ensure that students develop their professionalism. |
